Several years ago Easy to Love had an idea to team up with a museum to offer families raising children with special needs the opportunity to go on unique and fun activities. Without accommodation, most of our children would not be able to attend a museum. We decided to work with UMOCA (Utah Museum of Contemporary Art) and were able to give them the special needs piece while they tailored the art/activities. Originally the tour & class was help every other 3rd Saturday. This year they decided to accommodate families even more by having it available to schedule! You can schedule...

Our blended family seems to have a sprinkle of challenges throughout. My stepdaughter Annabelle suffers from anxiety that can be quite dibilitating. At the beginning of the school year we were really struggling to keep her there and managing in the classroom. Thankfully we were able to work with the school to get her 504 plan and I was able to give them a few {ahem} friendly reminders to follow it. This school year is coming to a close and while it was challenging Anna has made a ton of progress. We are grateful to have a wonderful team behind...

Hello everyone – I wanted to put together a blog post addressing the feedback we got on our closed Facebook page regarding monthly groups. This was my post: Would love some feedback! Group numbers have been slowly slipping over the last 6 months. We are wondering how we can build these groups back up and what’s keeping you from coming. We have child care in SLC & Riverdale and are in the works for Centerville. Do you need more notice? Different topics? We would love to know what group topics you would like to see and will happily implement them...

Do you have a “sensory arsenal”? We do… and it has been a must for us for the last 5 years when I really started understanding Emma’s sensory needs and the reactions when we didn’t accomodate them! So what is in our bag? The Pull & Stretch Bounce Balls- Click HERE to purchase Emma LOVES this. It has been one of the most consistently used purchases we have made. She even sleeps with it. One thing we did learn today is that if they try and stretch it over their foot or something it will pop. Thankfully I had a...

I am admittedly a Pinterest lover. I have way too many boards, most of which have pretty things I will never do. However, there are a few boards I have that I refer to often both at work and home. One of those is my “Special Needs” board. I often search up different SN topics on Pinterest to see what is new or what is floating around again. Some of specific to special needs, some would be good for all kids including our unique kiddos. So here are my top 5 pins right now, feel free to head over to...

Easy to Love is 100% volunteer based, all money raised goes towards running the groups, expanding and covering expenses. We do this because we know it’s needed, as special needs parents we need the support as well and it is something that we are truly passionate about. We have some...

Mental health problems occur commonly among today’s youth and begin at a young age. One in five children has a diagnosable mental health disorder. One in 10 youth has serious mental health problems that are severe enough to impair how they function at home, school, or in the community. Factors that predict mental health problems can be identified in the early years. 75% to 80% of children and youth in need of mental health services do not receive them. These are all serious and scary statistics, especially the low number of children in need of care that don’t receive it....
